What is the value of the digit 5 in the number 456?

In 456, the 5 is in the tens place, so its value is 50.

Tom has 87 marbles. He gives away 25 marbles. How many does he have left?

Sample 3 Multiplication facts

Sample 4 Fractions

A chocolate bar is cut into 8 equal pieces. Sam eats 2 pieces. What fraction is left?

If 2 out of 8 pieces are eaten, then 6 out of 8 pieces are left: 6/8.

Sample 5 Money and change

A pencil costs 35 cents. Maya pays with a one-dollar note ($1). How much change does she get?

$1 = 100 cents. 100 - 35 = 65 cents change.
