Number and Algebra
- Understand place value to tens of thousands and use it to round and estimate
- Fluently add and subtract whole numbers using written algorithms
- Know and apply multiplication facts up to 10 × 10
- Multiply two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers using written strategies
- Compare, order and count with fractions that have related denominators
- Recognise the decimal form of tenths and hundredths
- Solve simple problems involving Australian money, including giving change
Measurement and Geometry
- Read thermometers and judge reasonable temperatures in degrees Celsius
- Choose appropriate metric units for length, mass, capacity and temperature
- Measure with a centimetre ruler and compare metric units such as mm, cm, m and km
- Compare metric units of mass and capacity, including grams, kilograms, millilitres and litres
- Compare and classify 2D shapes and 3D objects using geometric properties
- Measure and compare angles to a right angle using informal tools
- Find the area and perimeter of rectangles using counting and formulas
- Use am and pm to describe time and convert between units of time
- Interpret scale on simple maps, calculate simple map distances and describe locations with coordinates
- Identify lines of symmetry in 2D shapes
Statistics and Probability
- Choose an appropriate way to collect and record data for a question
- Construct and compare column graphs, picture graphs and tables
- Describe the chance of outcomes using fractions such as one in four
- Identify the difference between variables that can change and ones that don't
