Parent quick start

Your first 10 minutes with Pi Leo

Choose one activity, let your child explain their thinking, and finish with one useful next step. You can try the public samples before choosing a paid plan.

Have a pencil and paper nearby. A laptop or desktop gives you more room for diagrams and circuit controls.

Start small

Choose one path for today

The goal is to understand one idea. There is no need to complete both activities.

Year 4 maths practice

  1. 2 minutes: open the Year 4 quiz library and choose a familiar topic. Begin with a public sample.
  2. 5 minutes: try the questions. Ask your child to show a calculation or sketch before giving help.
  3. 3 minutes: submit the sample, read a worked explanation and write down one step to practise again.

For another year, choose your child's year level. The separate free NAPLAN check-up offers Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.

A Quantum experiment

  1. 2 minutes: open the free sample and read “Prepare. Change. Measure.” together.
  2. 5 minutes: follow “Your first experiment”: use one qubit, add H then M, predict the counts and run the simulator twice.
  3. 3 minutes: compare the runs. Explain why equal chances do not promise exactly equal counts in every run.

No account or coding is needed for this sample. It uses a teaching simulator, not a physical quantum computer.

When you are ready

Set up your family's learning access

  1. Use a parent account. Create an account or sign in, then add your child under Students in the parent portal.
  2. Choose the right access. Maths subscriptions and Quantum Explorers are separate purchases. Review the current offer and checkout terms before paying.
  3. Open the learning area. For maths, use Quizzes in the parent portal and select the right learner. For an enrolled Quantum family, open your Quantum learning and choose a learner.
  4. Check one result. Complete an activity while signed in, then review the result before leaving. Each Quantum learner has their own quiz record. A public sample does not establish paid access or course completion.

The standard maths trial lasts 7 days for eligible parent accounts and requires a card. Your chosen subscription renews automatically. Cancel in My Account before the displayed trial end date to avoid the first payment. Eligible promotions show their own terms before checkout.

Quantum is a separate one-time purchase. Check the course page for current package availability and confirmed session details.

Finish with a next step

Ask: “What is one thing you can explain now?” Note the topic, one step that needs more practice and a time for your next short session. Revisit that step before choosing a harder activity.

Read the parent guide for a weekly practice routine.

We paid but cannot open the course

Sign in with the same parent account used for checkout. Review My Account for maths or your Quantum course access. If access is still missing, contact us with the account email, the page address and what happened. Do not send card details or your password.

The activity is difficult to use on our device

Try a current browser on a laptop or desktop so the question, diagram and controls have more space. If something still does not work, tell us the device, browser and page where you became stuck.
